The methods and brands I use to live a simpler, more sustainable, self-care oriented life.
capsule wardrobe.
clean beauty.
clear mind.
I compiled information about the ethical and sustainable efforts of the brands I feature on my Instagram so you can be more empowered to build a conscious lifestyle.
I couldn’t find any direct sustainability information but I did find this one very cool stat:
In 2016 they partnered with Feeding America® and have so far donated over 2 million meals, their goal is 9 million meals.
They also recycled 2788 feet of leather scraps to create The Hope Crossbody bag. And donated 500,000 meals to Feeding America from the sales.
It was limited edition however and I’m just hoping they bring it back!
American made with ethical standards, no info on the source of the Italian leather or how they eliminate waste in the factories normally.
They have been making changes since 2010
No Fur
Recyclable packaging
Sustainable denim line
In 2017 they did a deep dive on human rights in their overseas factories, emissions and water use. They’re most recent plan includes:
More involvement with the people and places that make their clothing
How they sustainably store and ship product
How they manage energy and waste in their stores and factories
Proprietary EcoLux™ fabric is made out of 83% recycled nylon
Focus on the environment and female empowerment
100% female run company and works with Girls Inc.
Recently partnered with Green Story, a 3rd party data agency. that tracks how much energy, water, and emissions they are using during the manufacturing process
hell ya, accountability - we love numbers.
ITMA sustainable innovation award finalist in “Industry Excellence” in 2019.
They’ve created Indigood™ Denim
which is a denim collection that eliminates water from the denim dying process.
Big goals for 2025:
100% renewable energy
50%+ usage of sustainable synthetics
100% sustainably-grown or recycled cotton
From the beginning Girlfriend has made their fabric out of recycled plastic bottles and fishnets pulled from the ocean
They also have a recyclable program if you’re ready to retire a pair of their leggings
They give out a wash-bag so that micro-plastics don’t enter the water
And they’ve built a water filter you can add to your washing system to further reduce pollution
Made in USA since the beginning- now further bettering their manufacturing:
Efficient Fabric cutting
Reducing water use during the washing process
Higher quality means more wears and less waste
I felt a little duped as I chased information that was buried and frankly, all theoretical, it was all very vague.
They do have big goals for 2030 - so its just the beginning
Circular fashion & recycling efforts
Clean and renewable water
Organically sourced raw materials.
Funding research
Other goals: charity, inclusivity & fair wages
